A Visit from Westchester County Executive George Latimer

A big thank you to Westchester County Executive George Latimer for stopping by Open Door Port Chester to help hand out free Covid-19 at-home test kits to the community.

At the event, Open Door’s Covid-19 Outreach team handed out Covid-19 information and answered questions. Latimer said, “This pandemic is still very much a part of our daily lives, and it’s our responsibility to keep our neighbors and our community safe and healthy. Open Door and many local non-profits have really stepped up to the plate during these unprecedented times, providing support to families living in every corner of the County, regardless of socioeconomic status. It is important we remain committed to that mission as we continue to move forward.”

Open Door acquired more than 5,000 Covid-19 rapid test kits, 1,000 hand sanitizers and KN95 masks over the course of the pandemic through its partnership with Westchester County as part of an ongoing initiative to help families who may not otherwise have the means to get tested.

According to Open Door Director of Marketing Grace Battaglia, “Open Door has distributed more than 5,000 test kits to community members across Ossining, Port Chester, Sleepy Hollow, and beyond!” “We are so proud to say that our outreach efforts continue as we look to make testing easy, and quick, and the test kits accessible for the individuals and families who need them most.”
